Ingredients of Online Business

Introduction
Dear friend, as I promised in my last post, Business Classification, today I will be talking on the basic components of online business. It is very important for you to know these components because if any one of them is missing, then, just forget about internet business as you cannot achieve any success. All of them must be present together for you to make any headway in online business. I have labeled these components the Ingredients of Online Business because it is like you want to make a pot of soup. If the basic ingredients are not available, I am sure you know how disappointing and frustrating that can be, right?

The Ingredients
So, what are these almighty ingredients?
Well, there are just four (4) of them. Every other thing revolves around these four (4). The four (4) basic ingredients together form an unbroken rectangle. So, here we go:

Ingredient 1 – PRODUCT
Yes, product is king. The simple fact is just this – you need a great product for you to succeed in online business! Yes, without a good product, you are a no-starter. So if you are thinking on internet business, you must now begin to think about what product you will be promoting. There are lots and lots of products that may be sold and bought on the internet. These, however, fall into three (3) broad categories:

a. Digital Products: These are soft products such as software, e-books, music, etc. They are downloadable products.

b. Hard (Physical) Products: These are products like books, drugs, food items, household items, automobile, buildings etc. These are products you will need to post to the buyer or arrange any acceptable way of delivery to the customer.

c. Services: If you have any skills, you can promote your skills and people will patronize you. The services that can be rendered online are many and varied. You only need to identify what you can do well, effectively and efficiently.

The good news is this – you do not need to have your own product! Yes, that is a fact. So do not worry if you cannot think of a product of your own now. You can leverage on the products of other people. There are many affiliate programs online. These affiliate programs will be too happy to admit you into their program when you apply to join. Once you join an affiliate program, you can begin to promote the product/service of the program and earn yourself some solid commission. Just be sure to join a good program and keep faith with this site as I will be dwelling more on affiliate programs and how you can develop your own products later on.

Ingredient 2 – WEBSITE
Yes, if you must be online, you obviously need a website. Having settled the question of product, you need a website to promote that product. Otherwise you are definitely not in the online business. You need a good and functional website that must be up and running at least 99.9% of the time. This implies that in addition to designing a captivating website, you need a good and reliable webhost. This will ensure that your customers can always get to the website any time of the day to transact business. Be it known to you that the internet business is a 24/7 business that runs every day and every time. You do not have to design the website yourself if you do not have the competence. There are myriads of web designers that can do that for you for a small fee. Another good news is that you do not have to have a website to begin with. You may decide to use a blog which you can easily get for free at http://www.blogger.com.

Ingredient 3 – TRAFFIC
Having got a product and a website, you must begin to direct traffic to your website. This is what will bring the customers and the sales. Here, it is very important that the traffic you send to your website is that of targeted customers i. e. those people who are interested in your product and not just anybody. Otherwise you might just be wasting your time. There are many ways, free and paid, to generate traffic of targeted customers to your website. This will be the topic for another article. Ingredient 4 – CUSTOMER APPRECIATION
Love and appreciate your customers. They are the ones sustaining you in business. If they lose faith in you and cannot trust you for any reason, you are simply finished businesswise. So, your customers are very important. Serve and treat them well. If you do, and even the sky cannot be your limit.

Conclusion
A combination of Good Product, Functional Website, Traffic of Targeted Customers to your Website and Appreciation of your Customers will make a success of your online business.
